Speaking, Teaching & Professional Training
Dr. Alexis Chesney is an experienced speaker, educator, and clinician who presents nationally and internationally on Lyme disease, tick-borne illnesses, and complex chronic conditions. Her work in education grew directly out of her clinical experience — and a deep desire to change what she was seeing unfold again and again.
Practicing in Vermont, a state heavily impacted by Lyme disease, further strengthened her commitment to public education. She witnessed how deeply Lyme affected individuals and families who lived, worked, and recreated outdoors — many sustaining repeated tick bites, developing persistent symptoms, and too often being told there was “no Lyme in Vermont.” Dr. Chesney became passionate about empowering people with the knowledge needed to recognize risk, advocate for themselves, and seek timely evaluation and care.
At the same time, healthcare professionals — including physicians, nurse practitioners, and herbalists — began reaching out to learn from her clinical approach. Many wanted the skills to better serve their own communities so patients would not need to travel long distances for knowledgeable care. This led naturally to Dr. Chesney’s role in professional education and clinical mentorship, supporting providers in developing confidence and competence in diagnosing and treating complex tick-borne illness.
In addition, Dr. Chesney began noticing a painful pattern: patients who had worked hard to recover from Lyme disease would finally feel well again, only to experience another tick bite and become ill all over again. Treating the same individuals repeatedly underscored a clear truth — treatment alone was not enough. Prevention and education had to be part of the solution.
Today, Dr. Chesney offers in-person and virtual lectures, workshops, continuing education programs, podcast interviews, and community education events. Her presentations bridge clinical science with real-world application and are thoughtfully tailored to each audience — from accessible, prevention-focused talks for the public to advanced clinical education for licensed healthcare professionals.
Education remains central to her mission of "Ending Lyme through prevention," improving early recognition, and expanding access to informed, compassionate care.
